Lamborghini Urus sets high-speed record on ice!

Automobili Lamborghini showed off the Urus’ traction and performance even in slippery conditions in setting a 1,000-metre record on the ice of Lake Baikal, Russia.

In a mere 1,000 metres, the Urus clocked a maximum speed of 298 km/h, in the presence of the Federation Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) and Russian Automotive Federation (RAF).

During the practice runs, the Super SUV managed to clock a more impressive top speed of 302 km/h.

“This extreme challenge has once again proven that the Urus Super SUV delivers the inherent performance expected of a Lamborghini in terms of acceleration and top speed as well as handling, to unlock any road: be it a highway, off-road route or even ice. We are excited to see the Urus’ official results published,” said a representative of Lamborghini.

The Lamborghini Urus, which was featured in our AutoBuzz Best Cars of 2018 video is powered by a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 with 650 hp and 850 Nm. 0 to 100 km/h takes just 3.6 seconds with a top speed of 305 km/h.

There are six driving modes available through its “Tamburo” drive mode selector – Strada (Street), Sport, Corsa (Race), Neve (Snow), Terra (off-road) and Sabbia (Sand). They work hand-in-hand with the Urus’ specially-tuned damping system that continually adjusts itself depending on driving conditions.
