Gallery: Audi Q6 e-tron at Beijing Motor Show 2024, launching in Malaysia soon

The Audi Q6 e-tron made its global debut last month. Now showcased at the Beijing Motor Show 2024, here is a gallery of the all-electric SUV itself, specifically the long-wheelbase Q6L e-tron (which is for China only) and its performance-oriented sibling, the SQ6 e-tron. Audi Malaysia previously confirmed that Q6 e-tron will be entering the Malaysian market this year.

Built on the Premium Platform Electric (PPE) architecture which also underpins the newly unveiled Porsche Macan, the Audi Q6 e-tron measures 4,771 mm in length, 1,993 mm in width, and 1,648 mm in height. Underpinning the all-electric SUV is a 2,899 mm long wheelbase. This makes it just about as big as the BMW iX3 and the Mercedes-Benz EQC. Audi says the Q6 e-tron is a pioneer in terms of design for the brand. It is also a product of an experiment for its new design philosophy.

Shown here is the Q6L e-tron, the long-wheelbase variant of the all-electric SUV, which is available in China only. But aside from its longer wheelbase, it is identical to the regular Q6 e-tron.

On the outside, the Malaysia-bound Audi Q6 e-tron is equipped with the world’s first digital light signature. Fitted onto the all-electric SUV is the brand’s new front-light technology that sports 6 OLED panels with 360 segments.

Its taillights are also innovative in the sense that they can communicate with their surroundings by warning other road users of accidents and breakdown sights. This is accomplished via a special static taillight signature that features integrated warning symbols.

Powering the Malaysia-bound Audi Q6 e-tron is a dual-motor all-wheel drive (AWD) setup, pushing out 387 hp (metric). This enables it to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.9 seconds and hit a top speed of 210 km/h.

Also shown alongside the “regular” Audi Q6 e-tron is the more powerful SQ6 e-tron that churns out 517 hp (metric), allowing it to perform the century sprint in just 4.3 seconds. Aside from the AWD variants mentioned above, Audi will also be introducing more affordable rear-wheel drive (RWD) variants in the future.

Thanks to a 100 kWh battery, the Audi Q6 e-tron has an all-electric range of up to 625 km. Charging the battery can be done at a maximum DC rate of 270 kW, thanks to the car’s 800V architecture, which can juice the car up from 10 to 80% in around 21 minutes. AC charging can also be done at a maximum rate of 11 kW.

The innovative side of the Audi Q6 e-tron’s charging technology comes in the sense that it is the brand’s first model to introduce bank charging. How does this work, you ask?

By plugging in the 800V Audi Q6 e-tron to a 400V charger, both of the car’s battery banks can be charged at 135 kW at the same time. As expected, upon initial plugging, it will first equalize both halves of the battery before charging them simultaneously at the same speed.

Moving inside the Malaysia-bound Audi Q6 e-tron, you get equipment such as an 11.9-inch digital instrument cluster, a 14.5-inch touchscreen head unit, and a 10.9-inch screen for the front passenger. Customers can also opt for the augmented reality head-up display (AR HUD).

Despite its futuristic exterior design and technology, Audi has decided to keep the gear selector on the SUV’s centre console. Also thrown in is the Bang & Olufsen sound system.

On the safety side of things, Audi has included the Q6 e-tron with its Adaptive Driving Assistant Plus safety suite. This system can help improve the Q6 e-tron’s handling by utilising high-resolution maps and swarm data from other vehicles.

The car will then use its radar sensors, its front camera, and its ultrasonic sensors for easy-to-operate guidance. By using the information collected to create a visual route, the vehicle will then follow it dependably and as comfortably as possible across the entire speed range and in traffic jams.
