Tesla Model 3 and Model Y prices slashed by RM8k – now from RM181k and RM191k

Tesla Malaysia has just slashed the prices of both the Tesla Model 3 and Tesla Model Y for the Malaysian market. The prices have been dropped, with the Model 3’s new starting price of RM181,000 and the Model Y’s new starting price of RM191,000.

Prices for other variants of the Model 3 and Model Y have also been adjusted, with the new slashed prices of the Tesla Model 3 looking like so:

  • Model 3 RWD – RM181,000 (previously RM189,000)
  • Model 3 Long Range AWD – RM210,000 (previously RM218,000)
  • Model 3 Performance AWD – RM242,000 (unchanged)

The new slashed prices for the Tesla Model Y are as such:

  • Model Y RWD – RM191,000 (previously RM199,000)
  • Model Y Long Range AWD – RM238,000 (previously RM246,000)
  • Model Y Performance AWD – RM280,000 (previously RM288,000)

No specification changes have been officially mentioned despite the RM8k slashed prices of the Tesla models.

The variants on offer remain the same with three options to choose from for both the Tesla Model 3 and the Tesla Model Y. Each of them get the rear-wheel drive (RWD), Long Range (LR) all-wheel drive (AWD), and the Performance AWD.

The Tesla Model Y was the first Tesla model launched in Malaysia as it made its debut in the middle of 2023. The Tesla Model 3 came later in its facelifted form in October 2023. Although launched later, deliveries of the Tesla Model 3 took place ahead of the Model Y’s delivery. Since its debut, the Model 3 has seen new rivals emerge in Malaysia in the form of the BYD Seal and the Ora 07. All cars are EV saloons that are competitively priced below the RM200,000 mark. With Tesla prices slashed, will we be seeing a response from BYD and the others soon?
