Neta L debuts – 1070km REEV, 406km BEV, RWD, larger than CR-V

At the 2024 Beijing Motor Show, Neta has just debuted its new large SUV, the Neta L. It is larger than the average C-segment SUV and is available with Range Extender EV (REEV) and fully electric (BEV) powertrains.

The four variants of the Neta L upon its debut are:

  • EREV 1070 Comfort
  • EREV 1070 Luxury
  • BEV 460
  • BEV 460 Luxury

As their names suggest, the first two variants are range extender models while the last two are fully electric models.

Let’s first address the size and configuration of the Neta L. It measures 4,770 mm long, 1,900 mm wide, and 1,660 mm tall. Its wheelbase measures 2,810 mm and its dimensions make it larger than the C-segment Proton X70/Honda CR-V but smaller than the D-segment Proton X90. While it may be larger than the average C-segment, it still seats 5 people only, albeit with a bit more luxury.

On the outside, the Neta L looks like a fully-matured Neta V. It also features some familiar design elements that have been seen on other brands such as the Smart-like electric pop-out door handles and two-tone paint job. Its taillight design draws some resemblance to the saloon Lincoln MKZ.

Among the exterior highlights of the Neta L are its panoramic sunroof, hidden door handles, powered tailgate, and frunk. The Neta L is also offered with five exterior colour options. Four of them are single-tone options with colours like white, silver black, and blue. There is also a dual-tone colour option with a black roof, but this is only for the white base exterior colour.

There are mainly 2 powertrain options for the Neta L. The first is a fully electric (BEV) powertrain with a single-motor rear-wheel drive (RWD) setup. It makes 170 kW (231 hp metric) and 310 Nm and enables a 0-100 km/h acceleration time of 7.8 seconds and a top speed of 180 km/h.

The REEV powertrain gets a single-motor setup as well, albeit with less power at 145 kW (197 hp metric) but the same amount of torque at 310 Nm. It is also a rear-wheel drive (RWD) model just like the BEV version. Interestingly, it has the same 0-100 km/h acceleration time of 7.8 seconds.

As for the battery, the BEV Neta L gets a 68.09 kWh battery capacity that provides 460 km of range (NEDC). For the REEV Neta L, the 30.06 kWh battery only provides 200 km of range, although, with the range extender engine (with a 50L fuel tank) and battery combined, it has a range of 1,070 km.

The BEV and REEV Neta L can be charged with DC charging and 6.6 kW AC charging. The exact kW rating for the DC charging is not specified, but Neta claims that the BEV Neta L with the 68.09 kWh battery can be charged from 30% to 80% in just 20 minutes.

As for the suspension setup of the Neta L, it gets a MacPherson strut suspension at the front and a multi-link suspension at the back. The car sits on a set of 19-inch wheels and has a rear-wheel drive layout for all variants. This RWD layout also enables the presence of a frunk in the Neta L.

Inside, the Neta L sports a huge twin-screen setup with the head unit paired with a screen for the front passenger. The driver gets a smaller screen that functions as the digital instrument cluster.

The Neta L is equipped with conveniences like power-adjustable first-row seats and the usual charging ports and wireless chargers. The most interesting feature would be the front passenger seat which gets a thigh support, allowing for a very comfortable ride.

In terms of safety, the Neta L is equipped with items like full-speed adaptive cruise control (ACC). Forward collision warning (FCW), and autonomous emergency braking (AEB). The car is equipped with 8 ultrasonic radars and 4 surround view cameras.
