Bermaz Motor has introduced the updated 2021 CX-9 that’s fully imported from Japan starting from RM319,847 for the 2WD (front-wheel) and RM336,215 for the all-wheel drive model.

The only other difference between the two-wheel drive and all-wheel drive model is that the latter gets an additional ‘Off-Road Traction Assist’ feature.

The rest of the equipment list spells the same features like LED lighting, sunroof, and blacked-out 20-inch wheels, side mirror caps, and front grille as part of the Ignite Edition exterior package. In case you haven’t noticed, the front grille has been redesigned too.

Inside, the standard black interior previously has now been replaced with burgundy upholstery that fortunately, does not make the cabin look like a giant ang pow.

Standard creature comforts include 3-zone air conditioning, ventilated seats, and a 12-speaker Bose sound system while new additions such as paddle shifters, wireless Apple CarPlay, and wireless charging makes life onboard the 7-seater even more pleasant.

Safety-wise, the 2021 CX-9 is fitted with Mazda’s i-ActivSense driver assistance system that includes autonomous braking, a blindspot monitor, and rear cross-traffic alert.

Both the 2WD and AWD variants are powered by a 2.5-litre turbocharged engine with 228 hp and 350 Nm, paired to a 6-speed automatic gearbox.
