The 2022 model-year update for the Toyota RAV4 has just been revealed in Europe, headlined by a new rugged-looking ‘Adventure’ trim for the SUV that’s designed for those who prefer to live life off the beaten path.
Unique to the 2022 Toyota RAV4 Adventure is its new front fascia, featuring a new bumper borrowed from the US-market Adventure variant. The new all-black grille, with the Toyota emblem moved to the middle of a horizontal trim piece, is also exclusive to the RAV4 adventure.
However, several of the styling changes on the Toyota RAV4 Adventure variant will also move down across the entire 2022 RAV4 range, including the new projector-type LED headlights with LED front fog lights, and a new 10-spoke alloy wheel design, finished in either bright silver or gloss black depending on variant.

Wrapping up the rugged looks of the RAV4 Adventure are the 19-inch alloy wheels in a matte grey finish, chunky underbody bashplate-like elements on the front and rear bumpers, plus an exclusive two-tone Urban Khaki and Dynamic Grey paint job on the outside that was inspired by Toyota’s classic FJ40 Land Cruiser.
On the inside, the 2022 Toyota RAV4 Adventure gets a variant-exclusive black synthetic leather upholstery with quilted seat surfaces and orange cross-stitching, along with a set of special door sill scuff plates.
However, the cabin has also been updated for the 2022MY RAV4 with new LED lighting, power-adjustable front passenger seat, illuminated window control switches, and new USB-C charging ports for your new modern-day mobile devices.
The 2022 Toyota RAV4 Adventure will be powered by Toyota’s fourth-gen hybrid powertrain, and is equipped as standard with intelligent all-wheel drive provided by an additional electric motor on the rear axle.
The powertrain combines a 2.5-litre four-cylinder engine with two electric motors – one on each axle- for a combined system output of 222 hp and 221 Nm of torque.
Production of the European Toyota RAV4 Adventure will some time near the end of the year, with first deliveries scheduled for the first quarter of 2022.
As for Malaysia, we haven’t received any confirmation for the upcoming Toyota RAV4 update just yet – but keep your eyes peeled!
