Launched in May 2018, the new Nissan Serena is still perhaps the most bang-for-the-buck MPV you can buy. Not long after, they followed up with the “J Impul” edition the same year that focuses primarily on aesthetic upgrades, priced at RM149,888. Following the Sales Tax Redemption, the “J Impul” edition is now priced at RM145,524.

To put things in perspective, that’s RM18k more than the standard Serena S-Hybrid, so what do you get out of this?

For starters, you get larger 18-inch wheels wrapped in 225/40 Michelin PS4 tyres which somewhat changes the way the Serena drives, with slightly increased stability on the highway. At the front bumper, there are visibly more chrome trims for a more defined, aggressive look than the standard model.

Interestingly, Tan Chong claims that the Impul aero kit increases downforce and high speed stability by 10%. The Impul effect isn’t just limited to the interior, the Serena’s cabin has seen a dramatic revamp as well.

A mocha-colour, diamond-quilted leather interior has been selected in replacement of the black leather upholstery in the standard Serena. What do you think? Has the aerokit and upholstery done enough to elevate the image of the Serena?

Recently, Edaran Tan Chong Motor also introduced a new X-Trail with an Impul Aerokit. The special edition comes with 18-inch wheels, sport springs and a spoiler along with redesigned front and rear bumpers and side skirts.
