Bayern Munich players will drive the all-electric Audi e-tron in 2020 and beyond

For a football club called Bayern Munich, you would guess that BMW are one of its main sponsors. Well, guess again. Since 2002, rival automaker Audi, headquartered just 80 kilometres north of Munich in a little town called Ingolstadt, has been the 28-time Bundesliga champion’s exclusive automobile partner.

Hildegard Wortmann, head of Audi sales and marketing and Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, football legend and chairman of the board of Bayern München.

Audi and FC Bayern München have just announced they will be extending and expanding their partnership till 2029 (Audi is also a shareholder of FC Bayern München AG since 2011), and ‘will be focused on strategic collaboration in the areas of innovative marketing and electrification’, and that will see every Bayern player receiving an all-electric e-tron this year.

The vehicle partnership under which all of FC Bayern’s stars and officials drive Audi models is a strategic collaboration to advance the areas of electrification and to utilise innovative marketing to communicate the message.

Don’t drop that charger, Oliver!

For the entire fleet provided by Audi to FC Bayern, an average maximum level of 95 grams of CO2/km has been agreed to over the entire term of the agreement, which practically equates to the legal requirement to be met by manufacturers’ fleets as of January 2020.
