Proton on track to exceed 100,000 units sold this year



Proton has maintained its upward momentum in sales as it records a total of 9,503 cars registered in October. 

The cumulative total sales for the national carmaker in the first 10 months of the year now stands at 79,833 units, inclusive of both domestic and export sales. The data translates to a 46% growth rate, with market share for the year at an estimated 16% – a 5.2% increase over the previous year. 

The facelifted Proton Saga, introduced in August, is proving to be popular with over 28,000 bookings received. The B-segment model posted its highest sales figure in over four years, with 4,273 units sold in October. 

In the first 10 months of the year, Proton recorded a total cumulative sales of 30,331 units for the Proton Saga, which is a 26% increase over the previous year.

The Exora, Iriz and Persona also shown an increase in sales as a whole; sales for the trio along with the Saga have increased 21% thus far over the last year. The four models account for 68% of Proton’s total sales year-to-date. 

The Proton X70 also contributed to the brand’s upward trend in sales. With over 24,000 units delivered thus far, the X70 retains the title of the fastest-selling C-segment SUV in Malaysia. 

Proton’s Chief Executive Officer Dr. Li Chunrong said “In the space of just eight months we launched our first SUV and updated all our other models, giving Proton the youngest model range for any car brand in Malaysia.

“We are now confident of being able to sell 100,000 units this year, providing us with a solid base to move forward in 2020 and beyond,” he added.

Proton now has 108 3S and 4S outlets nationwide, making them the brand with the most number of outlets offering sales and services under one roof.

As the local carmaker continues to build upon their brand image, Proton said that they are committed to improving customer service levels and building long-term customer loyalty.
