Video: The Mazda CX-8 is a CX-5 lookalike that seats seven

You’d be forgiven if you mistook this as the CX-5 or CX-9 at first glance, because I certainly did. Despite the similarities, the new Mazda CX-8 can’t fool anyone with its interior.

During the rollout event in Kulim, Eu Jin had the opportunity to take the CX-8 for a spin, as well as experience the car from the rear seats! Check out his thoughts on the six/seven seater in the video below.

The Mazda CX-8 will be available in four variants – 2.5L 2WD MID, 2.5L 2WD MID PLUS, 2.5L 2WD HIGH and 2.2L AWD. The 2.5-litre front-wheel drive models make 192 hp and 258 Nm, while the 2.2-litre turbo-diesel SkyActiv-D engine with all-wheel drive pushes out 188 hp and 420 Nm. Both engines are paired to a six-speed automatic gearbox with manual shift mode.

On the inside, only the base specification 2WD MID comes with seven seats; the 2WD MID PLUS variant gets two captain seats for the second row, while the 2.5-litre and AWD HIGH variants adds a centre console between the second row seats.
