Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 “Sports Cup Edition” unveiled to celebrate 15 years of club sport racing

Porsche has revealed a new commemorative model – the 718 Cayman GT4 Sports Cup Edition – at the Sportscar Together Day to celebrate the opening of the Porsche Experience Centre in Hockenheimring and the season finale of the Porsche Sports Cup.

The Sports Cup Edition, which will only be available in Black or White with red stripes is the culmination of experts from Style Porsche and Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur – the latter made up of 30 highly qualified employees whose attention is solely devoted to optimising, by hand, every aesthetic detail of special edition Porsches to perfection.

The No.15 on the doors refers to the anniversary of the Porsche Sports Cup. To protect this special edition model, dressed in 20-inch Satin Gloss Black wheels, the Sports Cup Edition will also be delivered with an “exclusive indoor car cover”.

Typical of a Porsche, the Sports Cup’s interior gets a subdued leather and Alcantara combination interior and just in case there is any confusion on where the driver sits, which is unusual, Porsche also made sure to distinguish the passenger seat from the driver’s with different coloured back rests – in red and black.

The Sports Cup Edition is based on the standard Cayman GT4 with 420 hp and 420 Nm from a 4.0-litre naturally-aspirated flat-six, paired to a 6-speed manual. 0 to 100 km/h takes just 4.4 seconds – just like the straight-six BMW M2 Competition with 10 hp less.

The Porsche Sports Cup has been the most successful customer and club sport series in the world with up to 1,200 drivers per season. The Porsche Sports Cup consists of six race series where races are held on famous race tracks.
