2025 992.2 Porsche 911 GT3 launched in Malaysia – standard or wing-less Touring, from RM2.3m

Here it is: the 2025 Porsche 911 GT3 has been officially launched in Malaysia. Priced from RM2,290,000, on-the-road, without insurance and before options, the debut of the 911 GT3 and GT3 Touring in Malaysia comes approximately a year after its global reveal in October 2024.

Like always, powering the new 911 GT3 is the 4.0-litre flat-six engine, pushing out 510 hp and 450 Nm of torque and screaming all the way to a 9,000 RPM redline.

However, eagle-eyed readers will notice that the torque figure has actually dropped by 20 Nm compared to the outgoing model. Despite this, the 0-100 km/h time for the seven-speed PDK variant remains unchanged at 3.4 seconds, with the six-speed manual slightly behind at 3.9 seconds.

Based on the updated ‘992.2’ generation 911, this latest iteration of the GT3 features several key mechanical updates, with the car taking components from its more extreme GT3 RS sibling. These include new cylinder heads and camshafts on the engine, while the suspension gains aerodynamic trailing arms to increase downforce.

Futhermore, as a result of shorter gear ratios that are 8% shorter than the outgoing GT3, the top speeds have decreased by 7 km/h, now rated at 311 km/h for the PDK and 313 km/h for the manual.

The biggest changes here, however, are its aerodynamics, including reworked front and rear diffusers, new bumpers, and a redesigned rear deck. Part of these aero updates include a new Matrix LED headlight design that allows for wider aerodynamic intakes at the front, and a massive rear wing with new angled side plates provides additional downforce.

These updates have made the car significantly faster, as proven by a new Nürburgring Nordschleife lap time of 6:56.294 set by a manual GT3, smashing the previous record by a whopping 10 seconds.

True to its lightweight ethos, Porsche has also further reduced the weight of the 992.2 GT3. A new 40 Ah lithium-ion lightweight battery saves roughly four kilograms, while new optional sports bucket seats also contribute to the diet.

The standard lightweight aluminium wheels reduce unsprung mass by more than 1.5 kg, and optional magnesium wheels can save a further nine kilograms. Altogether, these measures contribute to a kerb weight of just 1,421 kg in its lightest configuration.

Inside the cockpit, the cabin is configured with two black 18-way Adaptive Sports Seats Plus as standard, and unlike Carrera models, the GT3 is equipped with a traditional rotary ignition switch instead of a stop/start button. The driver is faced with a digital instrument panel that includes a special “Track Screen” mode, which reduces the displayed information to only the essentials like tyre pressures, temperatures, and fuel levels.

As an option, owners can also opt for the lightweight sports bucket seat with a folding backrest, with its seat shell made of CFRP. The seat is equipped with an integrated thorax airbag, while adjustments are done electronically for height, and manual longitudinal adjustment. A part of the headrest padding can be removed to improve ergonomics for drivers wearing a helmet during circuit use.

The Porsche 911 GT3 can also be equipped with the Clubsport package, which is a no-cost option that adds a bolted-on steel roll cage, a 6-point racing harness, and a fire extinguisher, and requires the optional lightweight sport bucket seats.

For the ultimate track experience, the Weissach package is now available on the 911 GT3 for the first time. This package focuses on weight reduction and includes a host of Carbon-Fibre Reinforced Plastic (CFRP) components, including the roof, the side plates of the rear wing, the exterior mirror shells, and the anti-roll bars, coupling rods, and shear panel on the rear axle. An optional CFRP roll cage is also available.

For those who want their GT3 to be more subtle, there’s the GT3 Touring, which replaces the massive fixed wing with an automatically extendable rear spoiler for a cleaner look.

For the GT3 Touring, Porsche offers a specific Lightweight package that also features a CFRP roof and rear axle components, along with lightweight magnesium forged wheels and lightweight door panels. As a special touch, models with the 6-speed manual gearbox will get the shortened gear lever from the 911 S/T.

In a first for the model, the Touring can now be optioned with rear seats, although these are more for putting extra luggage instead of ferrying people around the track.

The Porsche 911 GT3 and the Porsche 911 GT3 Touring is priced from RM2,290,000, on-the-road, without insurance and before options in Malaysia.
