Launched alongside the compact Audi Q2 is the top of the range Audi Q8, a sleeker, five-seater variant of the brand’s Q7 SUV.
Available in a sole 3.0 TFSI Quattro variant, the Q8 is essentially a coupe version of the Q7 priced at RM727,900 (OTR without insurance). Despite costing RM128k dearer than a Q7, the Q8 does come with a substantial amount of additional kit.

The Q8 is instantly recognisable by its sloping roofline around the C-pillars and a taillamp design that stretches across the tailgate. Standard equipment fitted onto our local spec Q8 include HD Matrix LED headlamps with dynamic turn signals, LED combination taillamps also with dynamic turn signals and 20-inch 5-arm style alloy wheels wrapped in 275/50 profile rubbers.
Inside, the Q8 is furnished with Valcona leather upholstery, individual contour front seats, four-zone automatic climate control, three-spoke leather wrapped steering wheel with paddle shifters, powered adjustable front seats (memory function for driver side only), Grey Oak inlays, Ambient Lighting package, MMI navigation plus with two large displays, B&O Premium Sound System, panoramic sunroof, Heads-up Display, Audi Virtual Cockpit, electric sunshades, powered tailgate and soft closing doors.
Powertrain fitted onto the Q8 is a 3.0-litre turbocharged V6 TFSI unit packing 340 hp and 500 Nm of torque (the Q7 uses a 3.0-litre supercharged V6). Drive is channelled to all four wheels via an eight-speed automatic transmission, allowing the Q8 to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.9 seconds onwards to a top speed of 250 km/h.
As spec-ed, the Q8 is closer to that of a Porsche Cayenne and Lamborghini Urus than a Q7 because it comes fitted with adaptive air suspension, progressive steering (sharper steering response) and all-wheel steering. All these technologies promise a more dynamic driving experience in the Q8.
The Q8 is also a step up in safety kit with the inclusion of Audi Pre-Sense Front that bundles Forward Collision warning and Autonomous Emergency Braking.
