All 3 variants of the 2019 Toyota Vios comes with 7 airbags, from RM77k

The 2019 Toyota Vios that was first previewed at the 2018 Kuala Lumpur International Motor Show is now officially on sale in Malaysia and for the first time, we will be getting the Yaris ATIV sedan look just like Singapore and Thailand, giving the B-Segment sedan the sporty edge over its rivals.

There are three variants of the facelifted Vios available starting from the 1.5 J, 1.5 E and 1.5 G. There will no longer be a manual variant available leaving the Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) with seven virtual ratios the only option for the 2NR-FE 1.5-litre Dual VVT-i engine carried over from before. Output is the same at 107 hp and 140 Nm to drive the front wheels with a new Drive Mode Selector – Eco, Normal and Sport.

The new styling gives the Vios a newfound sportiness with its sharp front end and curvaceous rear profile. Lower grade variants get reflector halogen headlamps with LED daytime running lights, aero kit with red pinstriping, door visors, halogen combination taillamps, rear drum brakes and 15-inch alloy wheels wrapped in 185/60 profile tyres.

Stepping up to the E grade Vios and it adds a bit more flare with LED combination taillamps, rear spoiler, powered folding door mirrors, chrome plated door handle and front fog lamps. Only on the top-spec G grade, you’ll find projector halogen headlamps with LED daytime running light, chrome plating on the front grille, rear disc brakes and 16-inch dual tone alloys wrapped in 195/50 profile rubbers.

The cabin is decidedly more contemporary with leather seats, leather-wrapped multifunctional steering wheel with paddle shifters, Optitron instrument cluster with TFT Multi-Info Display (MID), 6.8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with six speakers, 360-degree Panoramic View Monitor, digital panel automatic climate control, Premium Security and Solar Film as well as illuminated footwell (blue).

The mid-spec Vios 1.5 E settles for black fabric upholstery, analogue instrument cluster, urethane steering wheel with audio controls (no paddle shifters), four speakers and Premium Security and Solar Film becomes an optional item. The entry-level Vios 1.5 J, on the other hand, settles for a standard urethane steering wheel, 2-Din head unit with Bluetooth and fixed rear seats (the rest gets 60:40 split folding).

Safety is where the facelifted Vios gains a massive, massive upgrade. As standard, all variants of the Vios gets seven airbags, Vehicle Stability Control, Hill-Start Assist Control and ISOFIX mounting points. The higher-grade E and G spec further add Front Digital Video Recorder (DVR) (rear DVR available as an option), Blind Spot Monitor (BSM) with Rear Cross Traffic Alert as well as front and rear parking sensors (G spec only).

The facelifted Toyota Vios is available in five exterior colours – Dark Blue Metallic, Red Mica Metallic, Attitude Black, Silver Metallic and Super White II. Every purchase of the Vios comes with a 5-Years Unlimited Mileage Warranty.
