The radical-looking Toyota C-HR crossover has more tricks up its bulging fenders for 2019 with cosmetics tweaks and the incorporation of Android Auto and Apple CarPlay for in its infotainment system, while maintaining its retail price of RM150,000.
UMW Toyota Motor has revealed that over 4000 units of the C-HR were sold in 2018 and that for 2019, the C-HR gets a new dual-tone alloy wheel design, new garnish strips on the front and rear bumpers as well as the addition of body moulding along the sides.
If that doesn’t rock your boat sufficiently, you can tack on the optional TRD Aerokit (RM3,990) developed by Toyota’s high-performance division. The aero-kit adds extensions with metallic finishes to the front and rear bumpers and overfenders on the wheel arches, not that the C-HR needed beefing up in the looks department, but you can if you want to.
Perhaps more significantly, the C-HR’s infotainment system is upgraded with a new 6.75-inch touchscreen and comes with Apple Carplay and Android Auto connectivity – a first for a Toyota model in Malaysia! Yes, you are now able to speak to your car via Siri or Google Assistant.
Otherwise, the mechanical package of the C-HR remains unchanged with the a 140hp and 171Nm 1.8-litre four-cylinder providing drive via a 7-speed CVT. Deliveries of the 2019 C-HR is expected to start in February.
