This is possibly the first Proton X70 crash in Malaysia

Just less than one month after the local debut of the Proton X70, we have what appears to the be the first documented crash involving the new SUV courtesy of a Facebook user who uploaded to the social media site.

Based on the unverified information shared on the various Facebook groups, the X70 in question was driving along Jalan Kereta Api Lama, Kamar heading to Kampung Tok Muda Kapar, Selangor when the SUV drove into the ditch damaging the driver’s side of the car. The impact was severe enough for the side airbags to be deployed as told from the pictures.

However, despite landing into a ditch with significant damage across its right flank, the X70 appears to have maintained its structural integrity.

The X70 is rated 5-Star by ASEAN NCAP. As standard, all variants of the X70 comes with Hot Press Forming (HPF) technology body structure, six airbags, ABS, electronic stability control, pre-tensioner seat belts and load limiters.

The car involved in this accident was the top of the range Premium 2WD variant which comes with Advanced Driver’s Assistance System that bundles Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB), Forward Collision Warning (FCW), Lane Departure Warning (LDW) and Blind Spot Information System (BLIS).

No word on the condition of the passengers involved in the crash but we hope that they are well and wish the occupants and the Proton X70 a speedy recovery.
