Gallery: Volkswagen Polo Beats 1.0 TSI is the hatchback for audiophiles

Besides witnessing the premiere of the new Subaru Forester e-Boxer at the 2019 Singapore Motor Show, this little Volkswagen Polo Beats, caught the eye of our editor who is a little of an audiophile himself.

The Polo Beats is essentially a standard polo with a massively upgraded sound system supplied by Beats in the shape of a 300-W seven-speaker Surround Sound System. You get two tweeters in the A-pillars, four woofers in the doors and a subwoofer beneath the boot floor. An eight-channel amplifier ensures that the sound quality from the 8.0-inch Composition Media touchscreen unit is clearly transmitted through the speakers.

Visually, the Polo Beats is no different from a regular Polo equipped with LED headlamps with LED daytime running light, LED taillamps, modest 16-inch alloy wheels as well as black side mirrors and roof. Only differentiation from a regular Polo is the Beats log attached on the B-pillars.

Inside, the Polo Beats gets a dual upholstery with a Red painted insert on the dashboard, centre console surrounds and doors. Equipment list reads multifunctional steering wheel with paddle shifters, 12.3-inch Active Info Display, Beats logo embroidery on the seats and a sunroof.

Under the hood is a 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbocharged TSI petrol engine paired to a seven-speed DSG dual-clutch transmission. Accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h takes 9.5 seconds while top speed is quoted to be 200 km/h.

In Singapore, the Volkswagen Polo Beats is priced at SGD101k inclusive of COE which converts to over RM306k, yikes.
