Volvo XC60 T8 Polestar makes 421 hp and 600 Nm without compromising fuel economy

Polestar, Volvo Cars’ performance brand has just unveiled the Polestar Optimisation pack for the second-generation XC60 T8. They massaged 421 hp from the hybrid powertrain while maintaining the same fuel economy of 2.1L/100 km and a pure electric range of 45 km!

At stock, the 2.0-litre turbocharged and supercharged Drive-E four-cylinder engine together with the electric motor develops 407 hp and over 600 Nm of torque. It gets an eight-speed automatic transmission as standard. After Polestar’s magic touch, the powertrain now makes 421 hp. Now, the 14 hp power bump may seem insignificant, but Polestar claims that the optimisation provides greater everyday performance such as overtaking or exiting a corner.

Besides giving it some extra horses, Polestar remapped the engine to provide more mid-range grunt and sharper throttle response. The optimised gearbox have been calibrated to deliver quicker gearshifts and holds the gears longer when required. Of course, warranty is not affected and remains covered by Volvo.

Polestar Optimisation is available on all five engine choices of the XC60 – T8, T6, T5, D5 and D4. It won’t be long before the second-generation XC60 makes its Malaysian debut. Now, the real question is, how much horsepower would you like your XC60 to come with, 407 hp or 421 hp?
