The Hyundai Ioniq is the first dedicated hybrid car in the world with a platform that offers up to three electrified powertrains – regular hybrid, plug-in hybrid and pure electric vehicle.
For 2017, the 100 designs were awarded the Green Good Design Award from 23 countries, and the Ioniq was one of them. The Ioniq is recognised as one of the world’s most advanced products, designs and projects that emphasises sustainability. As it stands, the Ioniq Hybrid is currently the most fuel efficient vehicle in the US whereas the Ioniq Electric is the most efficient EV in the US.
Chief Designer of Hyundai Design Centre, Chris Chapman said, “Hyundai Motor is committed to progressing the future of eco-friendly driving and the Ioniq is just the beginning. The future-focused character of the Ioniq along with its innovative use of recycled and ecologically-sensitive materials has made Ioniq the most fuel-efficient vehicle and a leader in the environmentally-friendly vehicle space.”
The Green Good Design Award was given by the Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design and the European Centre for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies. The awards is now in its eight year running.
