2017 Malaysia Autoshow to take place in MAEPS, biggest ever local show to date!

It’s been a while since we’ve heard of Kuala Lumpur International Motorshow (KLIMS), and recently, the Malaysia Autoshow by Malaysia Automotive Insitute (MAI) has taken over as the country’s premier motor show.

This year’s edition will apparently be taken to the next level with a bigger venue at the Malaysian Agro Exposition Park (MAEPS) in Serdang. Set to be the country’s biggest annual motor show, the event will be held from 9 to 12 November 2017. The venue is no stranger to motoring events, having seen shows like Art of Speed and multiple motoring events held from time to time. The convention halls will house new car launches and displays, while the vast parking spaces are ideal for hosting test drive sessions.

Also to note, this year’s winner of the Malaysia Car of the Year (COTY) will be announced by the end of the first day (9 Nov) of the show. In addition, this year’s Malaysia COTY is no longer restricted to new cars sold during the year, instead any available cars sold in the country are eligible to be nominated for the award. Both changes will facilitate car buyers to make pragmatic choices when shopping for a car.

This year’s theme is “Energy Efficient Vehicles to the Future”, which focuses primarily on the latest line of energy efficient cars, with autonomous cars also brought into the fray. During the four days, side activities such as safety talks, automotive education expo, food trucks and many more await visitors.

Among the highlights from last year’s show include the exclusive preview of the Kia Grand Carnival, Honda BR-V, Hyundai Ioniq and BAIC cars. At the going rate, we’re pretty sure there will be a few major new car launch or previews that will take place this year. Any guesses which?
