Wait list for Volkswagen Tiguan 1.4 TSI stretches up to four months! [+Video]

The recently launched Volkswagen TiguanĀ seems to be rather popular with the people, with the majority opting for the RM169k Highline variant. But why is the waiting list so long?

Well, according to a representative from Volkswagen Passenger Cars Malaysia (VPCM), the waiting period varies depending on the variant and colour of choice. For example, those who opt for the Comfortline in Pure White may experience a shorter waiting duration than others who purchased the Highline in Atlantic Blue.

Besides that, their assemblyĀ plant in Pekan is heavily focused on producing the Vento, which is also increasing in demand. The plant is currently in the upgrading stages to facilitate assembly of their cars that’s based on the MQB platform (shared with the CKD Passat B8 as well).

As a quick recap, the Tiguan is powered solely by the 1.4-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine that’s paired to a six-speed DSG (wet clutch, if you must know) transmission. We recently sampled both the Comfortline and Highline on a trip with VPCM to Ipoh, so be sure to give that a read to find out our early impressions of the affordably priced premium SUV. Otherwise, let Adrian take you on a First Look around it in the video below!
