Audi Q8 and Q4 SUVs confirmed for production, Q8 in 2018, Q4 in 2019

Currently there are four models in Audi’s SUV portfolio: the Q2, Q3, Q5 and Q7; trailing behind BMW’s five models and Mercedes-Benz’s seven. However, that is set to change as Audi has confirmed production for two of their coupe-esque SUV – the Q4 and Q8 with production beginning in 2018.

The Q8 will sit above the Q7 and “open up a new segment for its top-end models” claims Audi. Based on the initial sketches and renderings, the Q8 will feature a coupe-like styling that combines practicality and emotive design. Naturally as their flagship, the Q8 will come with the marque’s latest assistance technologies and infotainment systems. Initial production will start in 2018 at their plant in Bratislava, Slovakia.

Positioned between the Q3 and Q5, the Q4 will also feature a coupe-style silhouette and with this model, it will mark the brand’s entrance to the Compact Utility Vehicle (CUV) segment. Perhaps with the Q4, Audi will be the first among the German trio to offer a coupe-like compact SUV. Production of the Q4 is set to begin in 2019 at Audi’s plant in Győr, Hungary.

Closer to home, Audi Malaysia currently has the Q3, Q5, and Q7 on offer but plans are underway to introduce the Q2 and second-generation Q5 as early as late 2017.
