The Long Range All-Whee Drive variant of the Tesla Model Y will soon be discontinued in Malaysia. This follows the discontinuation of the same variant for the Tesla Model 3 in April this year.
While the variant is still currently available through the online Tesla configurator, priced from RM245,065 on-the-road and without insurance, a Tesla Malaysia spokesperson said that the variant will be removed within the next two days.
Moving forward, the electric SUV will only be offered in three variants rather than the four currently, namely the Rear-Wheel Drive, Long Range Rear-Wheel Drive, and the six-seater Model Y L – the latter being the only all-wheel drive variant remaining in the lineup.
The company did not provide a reason for the discontinuation of the variant. At the moment, pricing for the Tesla Model Y range from RM197,575 for the entry-level Rear-Wheel Drive variant, up to RM262,615 for the Model Y L.

No pricing changes have been announced thus far, despite the new CBU EV import regulations for Franchise AP holders effective 1 July 2026, which dictates a minimum CIF (Cost, Insurance, and Freight, before duties) value of RM200,000, as well as a minimum power output of 245 hp (180 kW). The Tesla Model Y continues to be imported from China.
Starting 1 July, however, the one-time purchase option for Full Self-Driving (FSD) Capability has now been discontinued. The feature will move to a subscription-only option, but pricing information will likely only be available closer to when the feature is enabled in Malaysia.
All Tesla Model Y models in Malaysia will come standard with the Basic Autopilot package, which includes adaptive cruise control and lane-following functionalities. Buyers can also opt for an Enhanced Autopilot package at RM16,000, which adds on driver-initiated assisted driving on the highways, including lane changes and overtaking, as well as Autopark and Dumb Summon – Actually Smart Summon will be added as part of a future update, pending development and regulatory approval.
