Bentley has finally revealed more details about its first-ever EV, teasing the model’s rear-end design while confirming its name. Officially called the Bentley Torcal, the new model will become the fourth model line in the brand’s lineup, joining the Continental GT, Flying Spur, and Bentayga.
Like the Bentayga, Bacalar, and Batur before it, the Bentley Torcal takes its name from a notable natural landmark. As for the new model, it’s inspired by El Torcal de Antequera, a nature reserve in Spain’s Sierra del Torcal mountain range.
Bentley’s first EV seems to now be confirmed to be an SUV, as the teaser image reveals an upright tailgate. Its taillights are thin and sleek, decorated with diamond-cut graphics for an extra spice of luxury. The two are separated by the prominent Bentley wings logo and wordmark, while bits of carbon fibre below the rear wing add a touch of sportiness.
Lower down, the number plate is positioned on the lower bumper and recessed inwards. Overall, the Bentley Torcal sports a very clean and elegant look with no excess of additional creases and trim pieces.
The rear is all Bentley has shown so far, but the front could feature a design similar to the EXP 15 EV design study shown a year ago, maybe even featuring an upright, double-layered illuminated grille. Bentley also hasn’t revealed the new model’s dimensions either, although previous reports suggest it will be a slightly smaller crossover positioned below the Bentayga.

Bentley has also yet to reveal any powertrain details. However, it explained that “Torcal” is derived from the Latin word torquere, the same root from which the modern word “torque” originates. The name’s double meaning could therefore hint at what to expect, with the Torcal potentially becoming Bentley’s torquiest production model yet.
The current most powerful Bentley powertrain is the 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 hybrid unit featured in the Continental GT S and the Flying Spur S, producing up to 680 hp and 930 Nm of torque on both models. Could the new Bentley Torcal make over 1,000 Nm? Looking at Bentley’s sister company, Porsche, could give us a few clues.
Bentley’s upcoming EV SUV is highly touted to be built on Volkswagen Group’s Premium Platform Electric (PPE) platform, underpinning cars like the Porsche Cayenne Electric and Audi Q6 e-Tron. The Porsche Cayenne produces up to 1,156 hp and up to 1,500 Nm of torque on its range-topping Turbo S guise.

With power sent to all four wheels via a dual-motor setup, the Cayenne Electric Turbo S sprints from 0-100 km/h in just 2.5 seconds and reaches 200 km/h in 7.4 seconds, before topping out at 260 km/h. Its 113 kWh battery delivers up to 623 km (WLTP) of range in the Turbo S, and up to 642 km in the single-motor base variant.
The Bentley Torcal is set to make its full debut on 23 September 2026. While it marks the brand’s first step into the all-electric era, Bentley has reaffirmed that it will continue offering internal combustion engine models, with several new ICE-powered vehicles planned through at least 2035 under its updated Beyond100+ strategy.
