All-new 3rd-generation Mazda CX-5 officially open for booking in Malaysia

Bermaz Motor has announced that the all-new third-generation Mazda CX-5 is officially open for booking starting tomorrow (12 June). Previewed for the first time in Malaysia at the Kuala Lumpur International Mobility Show (KLIMS) 2026, the car is estimated to start from RM170,000

From a distance, the all-new third-generation Mazda CX-5 carries proportions similar to those of the outgoing second-generation model. Up front, it features a new headlight signature with staggered daytime running lights (DRLs) flanking an updated grille, now framed by gloss-black trim. The lower bumper has also been redesigned with a more sophisticated look, incorporating a pair of side vents.

Down the sides, the SUV adopts a more muscular stance characterised by bolder body contours and black side skirts. It rides on five dual-spoke alloy wheels finished in gloss black, complemented by matching wheel arch cladding that incorporates a small notch for a more rugged appearance

At the rear end, the all-new Mazda CX-5 features a new set of L-shaped LED taillights that are now more in line with the brand’s latest offerings such as the Mazda CX-60 and CX-80. Sitting between these is a new “Mazda” lettermark that replaces the logo that was featured in the outgoing model.

Compared to its predecessor, the new CX-5 has also grown considerably. It now measures 4,690 mm long, 1,860 mm wide, and 1,695 mm tall, making it noticeably larger than before.

Inside the all-new Mazda CX-5, its been given the simplification treatment, ridding most physical buttons and knobs for a massive 15.6-inch touchscreen infotainment display running Mazda’s all-new operating system with Google built-in. This enables drivers to control content and vehicle features with voice commands through Google Assistant. Of course, it will also support wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

While it sees most of its tactile controls gone, at least there is still a proper gear shift knob embracing the centre console. Giving it a nice touch of luxury, the model previewed here is shown with creature comforts such as a dual-tone tan leather interior, a premium Bose sound system, and a panoramic sunroof.

Bermaz Motor has yet to disclose performance figures for Malaysia, but looking at overseas models of the all-new CX-5 shows that the car is available with Mazda’s e-Skyactiv G 2.5-litre naturally aspirated four-cylinder engine and a 24V mild-hybrid system. This powertrain delivers 141 hp and 238 Nm of torque.

In a previous announcement, Mazda also confirmed that the CX-5 will gain the company’s highly anticipated Skyactiv-Z powertrain in 2027, which will incorporate its next-generation proprietary hybrid technology.

For now, the second-generation Mazda CX-5 continues to be offered in Malaysia, with prices ranging from RM135,469 for the 2.0G 2WD Mid to RM166,960 for the 2.5G High T/C. If the all-new model arrives at its estimated RM170,000 asking price, buyers can expect to pay roughly RM3,000 more than the current range-topper.
