If you’re planning to purchase a luxury new ride soon, you might have to hold onto your chequebook, because Denza Malaysia has just previewed a right-hand drive unit of the Z9 GT estate during the ongoing Sime Darby Motors MotorExpo 2026, running from 5-7 June 2026. The local preview of this luxurious high-performance estate strongly hints that an official market launch is imminent.
The catch? For now, it is purely a game of look-but-don’t-touch. Denza Malaysia is keeping the car out of reach at its booth with no local specifications revealed. With the interior strictly off limits, we are left to guess whether the exact configuration on the show floor will actually make it to local showrooms. However, the wait for details will not be long, as a Denza spokesperson stated that further official information regarding the Z9 GT will drop in July.
In China, the Denza Z9 GT is available with either a BEV or a PHEV powertrain. Two variants of the BEV are available, the first being a rear-wheel drive setup making 503 hp (370 kW) and 500 Nm, enabling a 0-100 km/h sprint in 5.8 seconds. This variant can be paired with either a 102.3 kWh or 122.5 kWh battery, offering a range of 880 km and 1,034 km, respectively, according to the optimistic CLTC test cycle.
The range-topping BEV variant packs a head-turning 1,156 hp (850 kW) and 1,210 Nm from an all-wheel drive powertrain, achieving the century sprint in 2.7 seconds, and a range of 820 km (CLTC) from a 122.5 kWh battery.
On the other hand, the PHEV variant sees a 2.0-litre turbocharged inline four-cylinder engine making 207 hp and 325 Nm. This is paired with two traction motors that produce 870 hp (640 kW) and 1,032 Nm, enabling 0-100 km/h in 3.6 seconds. Equipped with a 63.8 kWh battery, the PHEV variant of the Denza Z9 GT has a pure EV range of 401 km (CLTC) and a combined range of 1,301 km (CLTC).

With numbers as exciting as these, we will have to wait for official details, as there is currently no confirmation on which setup Denza Malaysia will introduce. However, the show car features only a single flap on its C-pillar instead of the dual ports typically found on the PHEV versions. This strongly suggests that the Z9 GT bound for Malaysia is the pure BEV variant, meaning we could potentially see the full 1,156 hp output on local roads.
Inside, the Z9 GT is furnished with a new triple-screen layout, featuring dual 13.2-inch displays for the driver and front passenger, paired with a 17.3-inch floating central touchscreen. This looks like it could be featured in the car when it launches in Malaysia, as the display car suggests a similar interior setup, though paired with white upholstery.
For safety, the Denza Z9 GT is equipped with BYD’s God’s Eye B ADAS system, which features a roof-mounted LiDAR sensor, 12 ultrasonic radars, three millimetre-wave radars, and 11 cameras. Together, these components enable semi-autonomous driving features such as city navigation assist, high-speed navigation assist, and parking-to-parking navigation assist.
However, because these features are currently calibrated for China, it remains to be seen whether the Malaysian-spec Denza Z9 GT will retain the full software suite. That said, the presence of a LiDAR sensor on the show car certainly suggests local buyers can remain hopeful.
Aside from the fact that a local debut is officially confirmed, everything else surrounding the Denza Z9 GT in Malaysia remains anyone’s guess. The sticker price is the biggest mystery of all. Considering the recently launched Denza B8 arrived with an eye-watering price tag of RM459,939 to RM519,939, the Z9 GT could easily demand an even higher premium given its performance credentials.
