Carro launches dedicated vehicle inspection centre network

Carro has launched its Motor Vehicle Inspection Centre (PPKM) for private vehicle change-of-ownership, also known as “name change” (M.V.15) in Kajang, Selangor. The centre will begin operations on 16 June 2026, simultaneously with seven other branches.

The opening of these private vehicle change-of-ownership centres follows an announcement by the Ministry of Transport (MOT) on 16 July 2025 regarding the appointment of new companies to conduct vehicle inspection services alternative to Puspakom. This initiative aligns with a Cabinet decision made on 17 March 2023 to open up vehicle inspection services under the Road Transport Act 1987 to qualified companies.

Apart from Kajang, Carro’s other M.V.15 inspection centres opening on the same date are located in:

  • Glenmarie, Selangor
  • Wangsa Melawati, Kuala Lumpur
  • Klang, Selangor
  • Bayan Lepas, Penang
  • Melaka
  • Muar, Johor
  • Johor Baharu, Johor

Vehicle owners wishing to use Carro’s M.V.15 inspection services can make an online reservation via Carro’s website to submit vehicle and ownership details. Slots can be booked between 9 am and 5:30 pm. The inspection fee is RM37.80 per vehicle, matching the standard rate regulated by the Road Transport Department (JPJ) and charged by Puspakom. Carro may also consider extending operational hours in the future to manage high demand.

Carro’s operations are subject to strict JPJ standards. These include providing complete infrastructure and inspection equipment, integrating operational systems with MySIKAP, securing relevant authority approvals, and ensuring vehicle inspectors complete the required JPJ accreditation programme before starting operations.

Additionally, the company must provide dedicated inspection lanes and separate staff for change-of-ownership inspections, complying with ISO/IEC 17020:2012, Conformity Assessment Requirements for the Operation of Various Types of Bodies Performing Inspection.

Other companies currently developing their M.V.15 inspection branches include Carsome Academy Sdn Bhd (Sungai Buloh, Selangor), Car Medic Sdn Bhd (Kajang and Serdang, Selangor), and Beriman Gold Sdn Bhd (Kuching, Miri, Sibu, and Bintulu, Sarawak). This expansion reflects the government’s commitment to enhancing service efficiency and quality, offering more choices, and reducing congestion at existing inspection facilities.

MOT and JPJ will continuously monitor all PPKM operators to ensure compliance with safety standards, technical requirements, and integrity levels. Both agencies are confident that expanding these inspection centres will support the government’s efforts to strengthen public service delivery and improve national road safety.
