The Lexus LX is a Land Cruiser in a tuxedo, and it could be coming to malaysia soon

Lexus Malaysia has teased an upcoming model for its local line-up on social media. Based on the partially revealed silhouette, the SUV is almost certainly the Lexus LX, evidenced by its distinct light signature and the upswept belt line.

The Lexus LX is built on the GA-F platform, sharing its rugged DNA with its smaller sibling, the GX, and the Toyota Land Cruiser 300 Series. Measuring 5,100 mm long, 1,990 mm wide, and 1,895 mm tall, with a wheelbase of 2,850 mm, the LX is slightly larger than the GX and will join the range as the brand’s flagship SUV in Malaysia.

Much like the Lexus GX is based on the Toyota Land Cruiser 250, the LX is the luxury twin to the 300 Series. It shares a powertrain featuring a 3.5-litre turbocharged V6 engine that produces 415 hp and 650 Nm. Power is delivered to a full-time four-wheel drive setup via a ten-speed automatic gearbox. A hybrid variant is also available in the form of the LX700h, which pairs this powertrain with a traction motor to produce a combined 464 hp and 790 Nm.

Sharing its off-road DNA with its cousins, the Lexus LX features an updated Multi-Terrain Select system and Active Height Control, which allows the SUV to tackle various terrains while maintaining a 700 mm wading depth. The suspension is complemented by a new electric power steering (EPS) system. Replacing the old hydraulic unit, this setup is designed to deliver a better driving sensation across all conditions.

These technical systems are managed via a dual-screen layout in the cabin, featuring a 12.3-inch upper display for navigation and a seven-inch lower screen dedicated to climate control and off-road telemetry. Despite these rugged capabilities, the interior is draped in luxury. The standard cabin is configured with three rows in a 2+2+3 seating layout, including new air bladder-based massage seats for front occupants.

For those seeking a limousine experience, an Ultra Luxury or Executive variant is available. Unlike the traditional seven-seat layout, this version accommodates only four people, featuring two large captain seats in the second row. Similar to the Lexus LS, the passenger seated diagonally from the driver benefits the most. This seat offers a maximum legroom of 1,000 mm and a footrest, made possible by the extended recline of the front passenger seat.

These rear seats are shaped for a neutral body posture, featuring concave headrests and cushions that wrap around the occupant. To complete the experience, a 25-speaker Mark Levinson audio system, the highest speaker count of any Lexus model, is also available for audiophiles on board.

Given its more luxurious amenities, expect the Lexus LX to command a premium over the GX, which is priced between RM780,000 and RM830,000. We likely won’t have to wait long for the official figures. The Lexus GX made its Malaysian debut approximately a week after its initial teaser, suggesting a swift arrival for its flagship sibling.
