Lexus Malaysia has teased the third-generation Lexus GX on its Facebook page, hinting at the imminent arrival of the rugged yet luxurious three-row SUV locally.
First unveiled globally in 2023, the Lexus GX is positioned between the flagship Lexus LX and the Lexus RX. It is built on the same GA-F body-on-frame chassis as the larger LX, which itself is based on the Toyota Land Cruiser, sharing the same robust off-road capabilities and features.
These off-road features include the Electronic Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System (E-KDSS). First seen on the Land Cruiser 300 Series, this system automatically locks and unlocks the front and rear stabiliser bars independently, giving the SUV greater wheel articulation when tackling tricky terrain.
The GX is also equipped with a linear solenoid-type Adaptive Variable Suspension (AVS), which adjusts the dampers based on road conditions via three selectable modes: Comfort, Normal, and Sport.

Two powertrains are available on the Lexus GX. The first is a 3.5-litre twin-turbocharged V6 producing 354 hp and 650 Nm, paired with a 10-speed automatic gearbox. The second is a 2.4-litre turbocharged four-cylinder hybrid powertrain, which delivers a combined output of 326 hp and 630 Nm.
Similar to the Toyota Land Cruiser, the Lexus GX adopts a boxy, utilitarian silhouette. Yet, it remains unmistakably a Lexus, featuring a rugged reinterpretation of the brand’s Spindle Grille and signature L-shaped daytime running lights (DRLs).
Inside, the cabin follows the company’s ‘Tazuna’ cockpit concept, designed to ensure controls and information are accessible with minimal eye and hand movement. Dominating the dashboard is a 14-inch central touchscreen paired with a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster.
With the full-sized LX currently absent from the local catalogue, the launch of the GX will see it crowned as the largest SUV in Lexus Malaysia’s lineup. Positioned above the Lexus RX, it will join an extensive family of SUVs that includes the compact Lexus LBX, the Lexus NX, the Lexus RX, and the fully electric Lexus RZ.
