Hyundai has teamed up with Pokémon Korea to introduce new interior themes for selected models in its home country, allowing owners to fulfil their childhood dreams of being a Pokémon trainer.
This collaboration introduces two distinct display themes for its ccNC infotainment system, dubbed the Pokémon Pikachu Lightning Theme and the Pokémon Ditto World Theme, both of which completely overhaul the digital gauge cluster and centre infotainment display with custom colours and graphics. Hyundai has even included immersive animations that play when you start and stop the engine.

Unfortunately for us, the partnership seems to be specific to the South Korean market only for now, perhaps due to the complex licensing issues surrounding the Pokémon franchise. Only a select few Hyundai models get access to these themes, too, namely the Ioniq 9, Palisade, the hydrogen-powered Nexo, and the facelifted Hyundai Sonata and Staria.
Hyundai says it plans to expand the feature availability to more models through over-the-air (OTA) updates in the future. But even if the feature does make it to other countries, it’s unlikely we Malaysians will get access to it as the Pokémon themes are currently tied to the newer ccNC infotainment hardware found in the South Korean domestic models. Nevertheless, interested users are able to purchase the themes from the Hyundai BlueLink Store.

What Malaysians could look forward to is the upcoming arrival of the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N and the Ioniq 6 N locally in Q2 2026, with the Hyundai Stargazer to follow in Q4 2026, as confirmed by Hyundai Motor Malaysia (HMY).
The Ioniq 5 N and Ioniq 6 N feature a dual-motor powertrain capable of producing a combined 650 hp (478 kW) and 770 Nm when the “N Grin Boost” feature is engaged for 10 seconds. This enables a 0-100 km/h sprint in 3.4 seconds on the Ioniq 5 N and 3.2 seconds on the Ioniq 6 N, with top speeds of 260 km/h and 257 km/h, respectively.

The Hyundai Stargazer, on the other hand, is a B-segment MPV set to compete against the Mitsubishi Xpander and the Perodua Alza. It is offered as a six- or seven-seater and features unique, spaceship-esque styling with slim LED headlamps paired with LED daytime running lights, both linked by a full-width light bar that forms Hyundai’s signature ‘H’ motif.
Powering the Stargazer is a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated four-cylinder engine producing 115 hp and 144 Nm. This is sent to the front wheels, paired with either Hyundai’s “IVT” gearbox or a six-speed manual transmission, though the latter is unlikely to be offered in Malaysia.
When the Hyundai Ioniq 6 N eventually launches in Malaysia, it will mark the entry of the next-generation Ioniq 6 hardware to our shores. There is a slim chance it could finally receive those Pokémon themes, provided Hyundai eventually decides to share the love globally.
