Honda’s new corporate logo looks pretty much like its old one from 1963

Honda has unveiled a new ‘H’ logo, which it says will be used to unify its automobile business, covering everything from dealerships to motorsports. The new mark is set to debut on production cars in 2027, starting with the 0 Series, but Honda aficionados might notice that the “new” logo is actually a nostalgic throwback to the company’s original 1963 design.

More specifically, the new logo has already been used on one of the brand’s earliest models, seen on the large “H” trim that was featured on the front of the 1963 Honda T360 kei-truck. While the new logo is being marketed as a futuristic vision for an electric era, what Honda has done is instead reaching back to its beginnings in its attempt to redefine its identity.

This strategy, which the brand calls its “Second Founding”, is designed to express a commitment to the transformation of the company as well as a corporate attitude of going beyond the origin of Honda.

Going deep into designer speak, Honda says the new borderless H mark represents two outstretched hands, a symbol meant to reflect the brand’s commitment to “augment the possibilities of mobility.”

Make of that what you will, but Honda is charging full speed ahead with its global 0 Series of EVs, which is slated to debut in the North American market in 2026 with the production version of the Honda 0 SUV, followed by the Honda 0 Saloon.

Alongside these flagship models, the company also recently unveiled a third prototype, dubbed the Honda 0 Alpha (stylised as 0 α), at the Japan Mobility Show 2025 (JMS 2025). Positioned as the “gateway model” for the lineup, the 0 Alpha is expected to go on sale in 2027 as a more affordable entry point to the 0 Series.

With exterior designs that can best be described as cyberpunk, these three cars certainly look like they have arrived from the future. In addition to looks, they are also packed with advanced technology, including pillar-to-pillar dashboard displays and a steer-by-wire system on the 0 Saloon prototype.

Furthermore, Honda aims to push the boundaries of automation by equipping these models with Level 3 autonomous driving capabilities, allowing for “eyes-off” operation in specific conditions.
