Kia ends Bermaz Auto distributorship, establishes own national sales company in Malaysia

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia today, Bermaz Auto announced that its subsidiary, Dinamikjaya Motors (DJM), has ceased operations as the official distributor of Kia in Malaysia, effective immediately today on 28th November 2025. This marks the end of a four-year partnership between the two entities.

Consequently, Kia Corporation will take full control of its operations in Malaysia in a principal-led model, with the establishment of its own National Sales Company (NSC), Kia Sales Malaysia Sdn Bhd, to manage the brand directly, including its sales, aftersales, training, as well as all wholesale and retail operations in our market.

The NSC will begin operations on 1st January 2026, led by Hyung Ho Kim as President and CEO, with ex-Jaecoo VP Emily Lek appointed as Managing Director.

In the Bursa filing, Bermaz cites a “change of business strategy” by Kia as the reason for the cessation of partnership.

Commenting on the shift, Kia Asia Pacific President and CEO, Ki Seok Ahn, said, “Kia is excited to reinvigorate our brand presence in Malaysia. We believe our innovation- and customer-centric strategy will enhance how fans experience the brand as we continue to support the growth of Malaysia’s economy and automotive industry.”

“We are here to stay and, aligned to our ‘Movement That Inspires’ brand vision, we are dedicated to building a future that inspires new experiences and sustainable mobility,” he added.

Dinamikjaya Motors has assured that it will continue to work with Kia during the transition period to minimise any interruption in vehicle services, parts supplies, warranties, and aftersales service for its customers. All warranties and service packages will continue to be honoured at all authorised Kia Service Centres nationwide.

Existing new car bookings made before 30th November 2025 will still be fulfilled, but throughout December 2025, new bookings will be temporarily paused as the transition to principal-led operations progresses, with bookings set to resume in January 2026.

The marque’s local Malaysian website will also be inaccessible during the transition period, but customers can contact Kia Malaysia’s Customer Support at 1300-88-0133 or email [email protected] for any sales and servicing inquiries or immediate 24-hour roadside assistance.

“We thank Bermaz Group for their dedication to the Kia brand over the past four years and the seamless handover during this transition period. The return of Kia operations to a principal-led model is timely as the market remains hungry for new experiences and value from automotive brands,” commented said Hyung Ho Kim.

“We are grateful to our loyal fans for staying with us through the years and look forward to curating an inspiring ownership experience that proves why a Kia is designed to meet the unique lifestyle needs of both existing and new fans alike,” he added.
