BMW M2 to get optional street-legal “track package” with a massive rear wing, due in 2026

The BMW M2 appears to be the main focus of BMW M lately, with two new versions of the car already launched this year: the M2 CS and a track-only racing variant. But BMW M is not stopping there, as the company has now revealed in an Instagram post that they are working on a street-legal “track package” for the BMW M2 to take on the Nürburgring

Slated to release sometime during 2026, not much information about the package has been revealed apart from the obvious swan-neck rear wing at the back. The pictures show off an M2 in Sao Paolo yellow, with the front and rear sections covered in camouflage.

Aside from the rear wing, the front end appears to feature a more aggressive splitter, while the camouflage around the front and rear wheel arches hints at a possible wider track. We may be reaching with our guesses, but the camouflaged areas may also feature BMW’s new flax-based composite material in exchange for carbon fibre.

BMW M says that this package will be “pushing BMW M Performance Parts to the limit”. This suggests that there may be more upgrades lying underneath the bodywork, such as new suspension upgrades, new throttle mapping, or maybe even a new exhaust system.

If tracking a BMW M2 is not your thing, and you dislike massive wings, the standard M2 is now available here in Malaysia with a starting price of RM693,100 on-the-road, without insurance, and inclusive of the BMW Service and Repair Inclusive (BSRI) programme.

Updated for 2025, the BMW M2 has been given a power bump and now produces 480 hp and 600 Nm of torque — a 20 hp and 50 Nm increase over previous model years. Power is sent to the rear wheels via an eight-speed automatic gearbox, allowing for a 0-100 km/h sprint in four seconds and a top speed of 250 km/h.

With the BSRI programme, you get a five-year unlimited mileage warranty and five-year or 100,000 km of service coverage. Without the BSRI programme, the BMW M2 is priced at RM650,800.
