GWM Malaysia has just launched the GWN Tank 500 at the Malaysia Autoshow 2025 with a starting price of RM328,800 on-the-road and without insurance.
Competiting against SUVs like the Toyota Land Cruiser, the fully imported (CBU) GWM Tank 500 is a full sized seven-seater SUV that combines very capable off-road abilities with luxury.
The Tank 500 measures at 5,078 mm in length, 1,934 mm in width, 1,905 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,850 mm. With its imposing looks and size to match, there will be no mistaking this car as the big daddy of GWM.
Standard for the Tank 500’s interior include 20-inch multi-spoke wheels wrapped in Continental CrossContact RX, electronically-extending side steps, and hydraulic sideways-opening tailgate with electric soft-closing, just to name a few.

Inside, the GWM Tank 500 takes a rather different approach compared to the exterior design. You are immediately greeted by a 14.6-inch infotainment display and a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster. The interior is draped in wood-like veneer trims while the seats are upholstered in quilted Nappa leather to give the car a luxurious vibe.
To top it off, standard interior features include a heads-up display, seat massage and ventilation functions for front passengers, 12-speaker Infinity premium sound system, to name a few.

Powering the Tank 500 is a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder hybrid (HEV) from the brands “Hi4-T” technology family. Combined, it produces a maximum of 346 hp and 648 Nm to part-time selectable four-wheel drive (4WD) via a nine-speed hybrid automatic transmission with integrated electric motor.
As for its capabilities, the Tank 500 is built on a ladder frame chassis with an approach angle of 30 degrees. It also features three lockable differentials, off-road cruise control, transparent chassis view, clever “Tank Turn” system and 11 different driving modes for its diverse capabilities.

The GWM Tank 500 comes in a single variant, priced at RM328,800 on-the-road without insurance. The price includes a six-year/unlimited-mileage vehicle warranty and an eight-year/200,000 km power battery warranty. First-hand private owners will receive a lifetime powertrain warranty for the engine, the transmission, and HEV components.
Early buyers get a limited-time offer of five years of free service maintenance (covering parts and labour), plus a limited-edition “premium gift set” for the first 100 owners. For more info, check out our launch article here.
