Jaecoo Malaysia rebrands as Omoda Jaecoo Malaysia on 1st anniversary

Celebrating its first anniversary at Malaysia Autoshow 2025, Jaecoo Malaysia has now officially rebranded to Omoda Jaecoo Malaysia, in line with the Chery export markets strategy.

“This brand refresh signals our optimism for the market and the growth opportunities here. As a dynamic brand with a finger on the pulse of consumers’ preferences and needs, we are ready to elevate the way people experience the Omoda Jaecoo brand,” said Omoda Jaecoo Malaysia Vice President, Emily Lek.

“Together with our sleek and high-performing vehicles, we are passionate about delivering a personalised lifestyle experience as Malaysia’s challenger premium off-road SUV brand,” She added.

Since entering the Malaysian car market last year in 2024, the company has recorded over 12,000 total registrations for its models, which currently consist of the Jaecoo J7 Petrol and Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV), and the Omoda C9.

Omoda Jaecoo Malaysia will soon introduce their fourth model to the market, the Jaecoo J8, which was previously previewed in Malaysia in March 2025.

As the first model which will be launched under the new brand identity, the Jaecoo J8 is a D-segment SUV comparable in size to the Mazda CX-8.

Powering the Jaecoo J8 is a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine producing 249 hp and 385 Nm of torque. This is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission, enabling a 0-100 km/h sprint in 9 seconds and a top speed of 200 km/h. Power is sent to either the front or all wheels.

The Jaecoo J8 is now open for booking in Malaysia, at an estimated price of RM195,000 for the RWD variant, and the AWD variant around RM220,000. A launch could be happening later in 2025, so stay tuned for our launch coverage for the Jaecoo J8!
