2025 Xpeng X9 now open for ROI in Malaysia – new luxury EV MPV launching soon

Bermaz XPeng has announced that registration of interest is now open for the fully-electric (EV) Xpeng X9 MPV on XPeng Malaysia’s official website. An additional checkbox at the bottom of the form, allowing customers to book the model and “secure [your] slot today”, hints that an official launch is not far away from now.

The XPeng X9 was first previewed in Malaysia early January this year – although no specifications were revealed at that time, as the preview car was a pre-production unit.

We do know that the Xpeng X9 is a large MPV, measuring even longer than the Zeekr 009, but with a slightly shorter wheelbase and also slightly narrower.

Seating configuration in the Xpeng X9 is arranged in a 2-2-3 layout. The preview unit of the Xpeng X9 showcased “zero gravity” captain seats, which can automatically recline to a comfortable lounging position.

Luxury amenities in the Xpeng X9 – at least on the preview unit – include a roof-mounted 21.4-inch touchscreen TV for the second row that can access streaming services like Apple TV and Spotify. There’s also a fridge that can operate in both hot and cold temperatures, presumably similar to the one found in the Denza D9, which was only recently launched here in Malaysia.

Like the G6, the dashboard of the XPeng X9 is similarly designed with minimalism in mind. A central 17.3-inch touchscreen infotainment display controls most vehicular functions, and the driver gets a digital instrument display.

Based on right-hand drive (RHD) export specifications from Hong Kong, the Xpeng X9 is propelled by a single front-mounted electric motor making 320 hp. This electric motor is powered by either an 84.5 kWh or a 101.5 kWh lithium-iron phosphate (LFP) battery.

The Standard Range variant, equipped with the 84.5 kWh battery, achieves a WLTP range of 480 km. The Long Range variant, with the larger 101.5 kWh battery, boasts a WLTP range of 575 km. Both variants achieve the century sprint in 7.7 seconds.

We won’t know the official pricing for the XPeng X9 until its official launch, but expect it to be roughly similar to its main competitors, with the Denza D9 starting at RM259,000, and the Zeekr 009 from RM349,800.
