BYD’s Indonesian subsidiary, PT BYD Motor Indonesia (BYD Indonesia), has launched the fully-electric (EV) Denza D9 MPV in the archipelago.
Fully imported (CBU) from China, the Denza D9 is priced at IDR 950,000,000 (approx. RM257k). BYD plans to locally assemble (CKD) the luxury EV MPV in Indonesia by 2026 at its new plant in Subang, West Java.
The new plant, costing USD1 billion, will have an annual production capacity of 150,000 units and will support Indonesia’s goal of domestically producing 600,000 EVs by 2030.
Closer to home, Denza Sime Motors has opened the order books for the Denza D9, with a launch slated for Q1 2025. Two variants, front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive, are expected to be available.
The front-wheel drive variant is powered by a single electric motor producing 313 hp and 360 Nm, enabling a 0-100 km/h time of 9.5 seconds.

The all-wheel drive variant adds a second motor to the rear axle, boosting output to 374 hp and 470 Nm and reducing the 0-100 km/h sprint time to 6.9 seconds.
Both variants are equipped with a 103 kWh Blade battery pack. The front-wheel drive variant has a WLTP-rated range of 520 km, while the all-wheel drive variant offers 480 km.
Charging is supported via 11 kW AC and 166 kW DC. Expect a host of luxurious features in the Denza D9, such as captain’s chairs in the second row, Nappa leather upholstery, and a suite of advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS).
