Denza D9 now open for booking in Malaysia – Q1 2025 launch

Following of the initial announcement last November, Denza Sime Motors has now opened the order books for the Denza D9 electric MPV, according to several Facebook posts from the marque’s newly-appointed dealers.

No pricing has been announced yet, but for reference, the fully electric (EV) MPV is priced from THB1,999,900 (approx. RM263k) in Thailand, as part of its promotional launch pricing. Its main competitor, the Zeekr 009, starts at RM349,800 here in Malaysia.

In its export right-hand drive form, the Denza D9 is offered solely with electric propulsion, in both front-wheel and all-wheel drive configurations. The former sees a single motor with 313 hp (230 kW) and 360 Nm of torque, translating to a century sprint time of 9.5 seconds, while the latter adds an additional motor onto the rear axle for a total of 374 hp (275 kW) and 470 Nm, for a 0-100 km/h sprint in 6.9 seconds.

Both variants are equipped with the same 103 kWh Blade lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery pack, resulting in a WLTP-rated range of 520 km on the FWD model, and 480 km on the AWD. Charging the battery is done either via the on-board. 11 kW AC charger, or using a DC fast charger with support of up to 166 kW.

The Denza D9 is designed as a luxury MPV, with business class-like captain seats in the second row, upholstered in fancy embroidered Nappa leather. Actual equipment specifications will have to wait until launch, but we expect those coming to Malaysia to be similarly equipped as the Thai market Denza D9.

Notable interior equipment include the real wood trims on the dashboard and door cards, power adjustable captain seats in the second row with lumbar adjustment, seat ventilation, and massage functions, three 50-watt wireless charging pads in the first and second row seats, a panoramic glass roof, as well as a 14-speaker Dynaudio sound system.

As usual, expect an elaborate range of advanced driver assistance features baked into the Denza D9, including autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control with lane centring assist, front- and rear-cross traffic alert with auto braking, as well as driver attention monitoring.

With the Zeekr 009 gaining widespread attention here in Malaysia, will the Denza D9 receive the same love from carbuyers, especially with the BYD brand behind it?
