Volvo Car Malaysia has announced a range of updates to the XC40 B5, as it goes on sales for another year in 2025. Now badged as ‘Plus’ instead of ‘Ultimate’ as before, the internal combustion engine (ICE) powered compact crossover is now open for booking, priced at RM278,888 on-the-road and without insurance, representing a RM10,000 hike over the current model.
For that extra dough, you’ll be getting the new LED matrix Pixel Headlights up front, which automatically adjusts the brightness through a range of sensors to optimise driver visibility while also preventing glare for oncoming traffic.
The Volvo XC40 B5 also now gets a new set of aerodynamic alloy wheels, which the company says enhances “both aesthetics and fuel efficiency”. They’re still sized at 19 inches in diameter, unchanged from before. A new Cloud Blue exterior hue joins the existing range of colour options.
Otherwise, the rest of the model remains unchanged, including its mild-hybrid powertrain, consisting of a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine, and a small electric motor for additional assistance. Alltogether, the powertrain offers 263 hp and 390 Nm, sent to all four wheels via an eight-speed automatic gearbox.
Inside, the 2025 Volvo XC40 B5 Plus is also still powered by the same Android Automotive infotainment system that offers seamless integration with Google Maps, Google Assistant, as well as the Google Play Store that gives owners access to even more apps. For 2025, owners now get an additional year of complimentary digital services (remote access via Volvo Cars app, Google connectivity), bringing it up to a total of five years.

Volvo’s unwavering commitment to safety also remains unchanged on the 2025 Volvo XC40 B5 Plus, which comes with a range of advanced driver assistance features that include front and rear autonomous emergency braking, cross traffic alert with auto braking, run-off road protection, blind spot monitor with steer assist, 360-degree surround view monitor, as well as a whiplash protection system.
The Volvo XC40 B5 Plus is now open for booking – customers can place their order at any Volvo authorised dealer. The Volvo XC40 is also available in a fully electric form, but the Recharge T5 plug-in hybrid variant has now been discontinued, based on information on the company’s website.
