Chinese automaker BYD has introduced an updated version of its Seagull electric hatchback on August 1st, 2024. The electric hatchback comes in three variants, with prices from 69,800 Yuan (approx. RM43,049) to 85,800 Yuan (approx. RM53,258).
The new model offers a range of exterior and interior color options, from Arctic Blue, Warm Sun White, Polar Night Black, or Peach Pink for the exterior. For the interior, the Deep Ocean Blue or Dune Pink will be the choices provided.

- 16-inch rims (limited to Freedom Edition and Flying Edition)

Offered in three variants, namely Vitality Edition, Freedom Edition and Flying Edition the BYD Seagull continues to be built on the brand’s e-Platform 3.0. The Vitality Edition and Freedom Editions feature a 30.08 kWh battery pack, offering a driving range of 305 km under the CLTC range. For the extended range, the Flying Edition is equipped with a larger 38.88 kWh battery pack, capable of covering up to 405 km under the CLTC range on a single charge.
The BYD Seagull retains its electric powertrain, featuring a permanent magnet synchronous motor generating a maximum power output of 74 hp (metric) and a peak torque of 135 Nm with the power being sent to the front wheel only. The motor is paired with BYD’s Blade battery technology which can be charged from 30% to 80% in 30 minutes when using a DC fast charger.
The interior maintains a familiar design layout, featuring a 7-inch digital instrument cluster and a 10.1-inch rotating central touchscreen, powered by BYD’s DiLink system. Standard features include voice control, Bluetooth connectivity, multiple USB ports, in-car Wi-Fi, and remote software updates. Limited to Freedom Edition and Flying Edition are wireless charging, heated front seats, and a 6-way power-adjustable driver’s seat.
The updated BYD Seagull retains its compact dimensions with a 3,780mm length, 1,715mm width, 1,540mm height, and 2,500mm wheelbase. The Seagull is built on BYD’s advanced e-Platform 3.0 architecture. The updated model features subtle exterior changes, including a revised rear logo that now simply reads “BYD.” The front design remains largely unchanged. The Vitality Edition runs on 15-inch rims, while the Freedom Edition and Flying Edition runs on new 16-inch rims.
