Proton eMAS surges past 20,000 units in under 7 months, claims title as Malaysia’s fastest growing xEV brand

Another day and it is another achievement for the Proton eMAS brand as Pro-Net, the distributor of the EV sub-brand, announced sales have surpassed 20,000 units in less than seven months for the year

The milestone further cements Proton eMAS’ position as Malaysia’s leading and fastest-growing xEV (new energy vehicles, including HEV, PHEV, and BEV) brand. As of the end of June 2026, it commands a 42.6% slice of the Malaysian EV market, and 41.8% of the xEV market.

Malaysia’s rapidly growing electrified vehicle segment has seen strong demand for both eMAS EV models. The Proton eMAS 5 retains its position as the brand’s best-selling model, making up 60.9% of sales, while the Proton eMAS 7 contributed 15.8% of total sales.

Introduced more recently, the Proton eMas 7 PHEV is also quickly gaining traction, a true reflection of consumers desire for electrified vehicles that combine electric driving with long-distance flexibility. The new variant made up the remaining 23.3% of total sales.

“Every milestone begins with the trust of our customers. Surpassing 20,000 vehicle sales in less than seven months would not have been possible without the confidence and unwavering support of Malaysians who have chosen Proton eMAS,” said Zhang Qiang, CEO of Pro-Net.

Concurrently, Proton remains committed to supporting the Government’s ambitions to accelerate the adoption of low-carbon mobility and reduce transport-related emissions. Under the eMas brand, the company continues to contribute towards the objectives outlined in the Low Carbon Mobility Blueprint (LCMB) and the National Energy Transition Roadmap (NETR) by making electrified vehicles more accessible.

Moving forward, Proton says that it will continue to invest in new products, customer experience and ecosystem development to further accelerate the adoption of electrified mobility in Malaysia.
