Singapore becomes world’s first market to get the Honda Super-One

Singaporeans can now claim supremacy over the rest of the world with the launch of the pint-sized Honda Super-One during the annual Singapore Motor Show, because the debut also marks the first market launch in the world for the electric hatchback, arriving even before its home country in Japan, which is slated for the end of 2026.

The Honda Super-One is a souped up electric supermini, based largely on the N-One e kei car in Japan. It’s powered by an electric motor that makes 95 hp and 162 Nm, and while that might sound modest, the fact that this car is actually smaller than a Perodua Axia ensures this tiny package will be quite darty and fun to drive, especially when equipped with the exclusive Boost Mode, a simulated seven-speed gearbox, and the Active Sound Control system taken from the Honda Prelude.

While Honda has not disclosed the specifications for the Supe-One’s battery pack, the 20-80% recharge time of 30 minutes suggests it shares the 29.6 kWh battery found in its commuter sibling. Given that car’s 295 km (WLTC) range, we reckon the more powerful Super-One will likely land slightly lower on total distance.

Visually, the production Super-One stays remarkably true to the prototype, barring the move to a single charging port. This is a departure from the prototype and the N-One e, both of which featured separate ports for AC and DC charging. The car’s aggressive character is cemented by sporty 15-inch eight-spoke alloy wheels and prominent blister fenders, while circular LED headlights and a rear hatch spoiler complete its “modern-retro” hot hatch look.

In keeping with the exterior, the cabin stays true to the prototype with three-tone bespoke leather and fabric sports seats. The driver-focused space features blue highlights and stitching across the dashboard, steering wheel, and door panels, complemented by a digital gauge cluster.

Tech is handled by a nine-inch infotainment display with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, while an eight-speaker Bose sound system—a first for a compact Honda—provides the soundtrack when you aren’t listening to the Active Sound Control.

It’ll cost quite a bit for the privelege of being first in the world, though, as the Honda Super-One in Singapore commands an eye-watering price tag of SGD178,999 (approx. RM567k), inclusive of the city-state’s Certificate of Entitlement (COE). That’s almost as much as the price of the Proton eMAS 7 Premium in Singapore, which is probably more than double in size.

In Malaysia, the Super-One has already been spotted testing on local roads, which could mean a local debut soon. Pricing is still anyone’s guess, but we’re hoping it to be significantly less than the half-a-million-equivalent sticker price across the causeway, even with the tax exemptions for CBU EVs having ended this year.
