Genesis, the luxury division of Hyundai, has launched its own performance sub-brand called ‘Magma’, analogous to Hyundai’s N division. Unveiled at the Genesis Magma World Premiere event, the brand stated that Magma will define its direction for the next decade. The event served as the global debut for the first production model, the GV60 Magma, and the Magma GT Concept.
As the first-ever production model under the new Magma high-performance division, the Genesis GV60 Magma sure packs lots of heat in the numbers department. It is equipped with two electric motors mounted on the front and rear axles that produce a combined 609 hp (448 kW) and 740 Nm – the same numbers as the Ioniq 5 N.
With boost mode activated, these figures can be momentarily increased to 650 hp (478 kW) and 790 Nm for 15 seconds. The company did not provide an official 0–100 km/h time, but states the GV60 Magma is capable of 0–60 mph (96 km/h) in 3.2 seconds, with a top speed of 264 km/h.
No official battery pack specifications and range information for the GV60 Magma were provided by Genesis. However, Car and Driver reports the GV60 Magma is equipped with an 84 kWh lithium-ion battery.

Still, the Genesis GV60 Magma is not just an EV with loads of power, as the engineers at the company have refined the suspension geometry of the car by recalibrating the roll centre and added new Electronic Control Suspension (ECS) and End-of-Travel (EoT) control systems.
Keeping the 600 horses in check are uprated brakes comprising front monoblock callipers and large diameter discs, and rear brakes.
The exterior of the Genesis GV60 Magma screams performance, thanks to its bright orange paint job, 21-inch Magma exclusive forged wheels, and features wide fenders and a 20 mm lower ride height than the standard GV60 to highlight its performance credentials.
But despite being a performance model, Genesis did not forget its luxury roots as the GV60 Magma, despite all the hot components added, maintains the “serene cabin quietness” expected of a luxury high-performance car, thanks to active noise control, sound-insulated glass, and reinforced door sealings.
Hope you like the colour, because the interior of the GV60 Magma also features plenty of orange. The seats, door cards, and centre console are upholstered in Chamude, a suede-like material, featuring orange and grey stitching. The seatbelts are also orange, while the steering wheel features a black emblem and orange accents on the drive mode and boost buttons.
The Genesis GV60 Magma is equipped with a dedicated Magma Mode digital interface that transforms the instrument cluster into a three-cluster layout. This prioritises essential driving data, showing key metrics like motor and battery temperatures, speed, and G-force.
Additionally, the head-up display provides a simplified view of crucial information such as speed, regenerative braking levels, and remaining Boost time. This performance experience is deepened by three key Magma-exclusive software features:
- Virtual Gear Shift System (VGS): Replicates the shifting sensations and driving dynamics of a high-performance internal combustion engine vehicle by adjusting motor output, torque, and regenerative braking.
- Drift Mode: Combines specific power distribution and e-LSD settings to support rear-wheel-focused driving, enabling controlled oversteer for track use.
- High-Performance Battery Control (HPBC): Optimises battery temperature for peak performance during demanding scenarios like racing or drag driving, ensuring consistent power output.
The Genesis GV60 Magma will be on sale in 2026, starting in South Korea and will be introduced to the European and North American markets.
Alongside the GV60 Magma, Genesis also unveiled its Magma GT Concept. The concept is a design study for an upcoming halo car, featuring a mid-rear engine layout that signals the brand’s aspiration to field a future production version in GT-category racing.
