Volvo Car Malaysia (VCM) has rebranded its industry-first aftersales assurance initiative, now known as the Volvo Genuine Parts Extended Warranty programme. This programme offers lifetime coverage at no extra charge on Volvo Genuine Parts installed at authorised Volvo dealerships nationwide and is tailored for Volvo customers whose cars have exceeded the standard warranty.
Unlike the standard warranty included with a new vehicle purchase, the Volvo Genuine Parts Extended Warranty provides lifetime coverage, including labour costs, for all eligible genuine parts installed by authorised Volvo dealers outside the standard manufacturer’s warranty.
The programme also incurs no additional cost beyond the original part and installation. Parts covered by the Volvo Genuine Parts Extended Warranty can be replaced unlimited times, subject to the specific exceptions listed below.
The extended warranty also covers eligible remanufactured Volvo Genuine Parts that were sold and installed through authorised dealers. Furthermore, the coverage extends internationally: if the defect occurs while travelling, the part is eligible for replacement by an authorised Volvo workshop in a different country participating in the extended warranty programme.
Also included in the coverage is consequential damage coverage. If a defective part covered under the Volvo Genuine Parts Extended Warranty causes a failure in other parts eligible under the extended warranty, those secondary parts will also be replaced free of charge.

It is important to note the specific exceptions to the warranty. The Volvo Genuine Parts Extended Warranty does not cover wholesale, over-the-counter, consumables, batteries, accessories, or wear-and-tear parts. Coverage is also not valid for Volvo Genuine Parts purchased before 1st October 2021 or for parts replaced under the standard warranty for new vehicles.
Furthermore, the warranty is immediately void if the parts were installed in non-authorised workshops. Most importantly, the coverage is non-transferable; if the car has a new registered owner since the part was replaced, the warranty is no longer valid.
Customers must also retain their dated parts invoice or receipt, as coverage is void without an invoice or a receipt missing the current vehicle owner’s printed, legal name.
To ensure the validity of the Volvo Genuine Parts Extended Warranty, customers are required to follow Volvo’s recommended maintenance schedule. The warranty is subject to the vehicle being subsequently serviced and maintained at Volvo’s authorised service network.
Vehicles that have not visited a Volvo authorised workshop for more than two years after the standard warranty will need to undergo a health check at the owner’s cost to ensure the vehicle is in good condition and has not been modified or tampered with in any way.
VCM, Customer Service Director, Godfrey Fernandez, said, “The Volvo Genuine Parts Extended Warranty programme offers lasting peace of mind for owners at no extra charge, especially for customers who are no longer covered by our standard or extended manufacturer’s warranty.”
“By using Volvo Genuine Parts and authorised service centres, customers can trust us to be ‘very Volvo about their Volvo’ with the ultimate assurance of quality, service and attention that will keep their Volvo cars running the best throughout their ownership,” he added.
