Volvo Car Malaysia (VCM) has announced an extension to the Volvo Car Connect Plus data service that came complementary with eligible 2022 and 2023 Model Year (MY) Volvo vehicles, which has now been extended by an additional year, bringing the total to now five years of free data service.
The extension will be automatically applied to owners of models built on the Compact Modular Architecture (CMA) and first-generation Scalable Product Architecture (SPA1) platforms, and will not require any software update or SIM card replacement.
Volvo cars in Malaysia that are eligible for the free upgrade include the Model Year 2022 Volvo XC40 Recharge Pure Electric, XC60, XC60 Recharge, and S90 Recharge. For Model Year 2023, the eligible vehicles are the Volvo C40, XC40, XC40 Recharge Pure Electric, XC60, XC60 Recharge, XC90, XC90 Recharge, S60 Recharge, S90 Recharge, and V60 Recharge.
Previously known as Digital Services, Volvo Car Connect Plus is the data connectivity package bundled with models that are equipped with the Google-based infotainment system. The service enables tether-free media streaming, over-the-air (OTA) updates, and seamless integration with Google Assistant, Google Maps, and Google Play Store.

The Connect Plus service was initially offered with a standard four years of complimentary data connectivity, which has since been increased to five years for new models from 2024 onwards.
“The generous allocation of complimentary Volvo Car Connect Plus is our way of thanking our customers for their loyalty by letting them fully experience the benefits of our Google built-in cars, such as simply saying ‘Hey Google’ when they want to navigate to a destination or change air conditioning settings – all without being distracted from the road ahead,” said Volvo Cars APEC region Head of Total Offer, Sun Qian.
“Customers who were early adopters can now have further peace of mind knowing that they, too, can enjoy a full five years of free data access without the hassle of subscribing to a new plan in the next few months,” she added.
In related news, VCM has recently launched the facelifted Volvo XC60, which comes in two variants: The XC60 B5 Core (MHEV) is priced at RM328,888, while the XC60 T8 Ultra (PHEV) is priced at RM362,888.
