Despite concerns voiced by some netizens regarding its range, the Proton eMAS 5 (stylised as e.MAS 5) has proven to be an instant hit, with Proton announcing that its second fully electric model (EV) has already secured 10,000 bookings nationwide since its launch two weeks ago.
Breaking down the numbers, Proton states the majority of bookings come from the Central Region, followed by the Southern and Northern Regions. The national carmaker added that demand for the eMAS 5 in the East Coast and East Malaysia is on an upward trend.

Furthermore, Proton states the majority of eMAS 5 customers are working professionals who selected the EV hatch as their primary daily vehicle, while a “significant number” of buyers purchased the eMAS 5 for use as a secondary household car.
Launched in two variants: Prime and Premium, priced from RM59,800 to RM72,800, the Proton eMAS 5 is the nation’s first EV to be priced under the RM100,000 mark. To sweeten the deal, Proton is offering an exclusive launch rebate worth RM3,000, valid until 31st December 2025. This effectively drops the price for the two variants down to RM56,800 and RM69,800 respectively.
