The Ford Ranger pickup truck in Malaysia now has a new V6 engine option in the form of the Ford Ranger Wildtrak 3.0L V6, which was recently launched here with a sticker price of RM192,888.
Unlike the petrol-powered V6 in the top-range Ford Ranger Raptor, the V6 in the Wildtrak is a 3.0-litre turbodiesel mill that makes 250 hp and 600 Nm, with power sent to the wheels via a full-time four-wheel-drive (4WD) system and a 10-speed automatic transmission. Compared to the 2.0-litre Wildtrak, the V6 is 40 hp and 100 Nm more powerful.
Besides the different powertrain, the exterior of the Wildtrak 3.0L V6 is almost identical to the 2.0-litre Wildtrak, with notable differences being larger 20-inch alloy wheels, a “V6” emblem on the front fenders, and an exclusive Wildtrak V6 decal on the front doors.
Inside, the Ford Ranger Wildtrak 3.0L V6 is equipped with the same portrait-oriented 12-inch infotainment display with Ford’s Sync 4A voice command system, and the driver gets an 8-inch TFT multi-info display.
For pickup truck enthusiasts, the Wildtrak 3.0L V6 retains the same utilitarian capabilities as its 2.0-litre sibling. It features a payload capacity of up to 1,000 kg, a towing capacity of up to 3,500 kg, and a water wading depth of 800 mm. For off-roading, the approach angle is 30-degrees, the departure angle is 23-degrees, and the ramp-over angle is 21-degrees.
