Proton lifted the veil on the 2025 X50 yesterday, and we now finally have full details on the “all-new” compact crossover, including its full variant specification breakdown. The only info left unconfirmed now is likely just the price, although we assume that won’t be too long of a wait any more!
As announced yesterday, the all-new 2025 Proton X50 will be available in Executive, Premium, and Flagship variants; the Standard variant will no longer be available on the 2025 model.
We’ve already broken down the design of the all-new 2025 Proton X50 in our coverage yesterday, so be sure to check that out. We’ll focus on the details today: the LED headlights are now notably reflector-based items, instead of the projector headlights from before; the bonnet vents are purely for aesthetic purposes only, and the Premium and Flagship variants get red-coloured brake callipers to match the red accent on the grille’s “ethereal bow”.
As before, the flagship variant will come with a gloss-black finish on its roof, now paired to an aggressive roof-mounted spoiler giving the compact crossover a sportier appearance. These are complemented by the blacked-out wing mirrors to complete the look. The entry-level Executive trim will come with new 17-inch wheels (not shown yet), while the Premium and Flagship gets new 18-inch items with a “textured” two-tone finish.

Inside, the all-new Proton X50 has been given a complete redesign, with a dashboard layout that is completely unique to the model, and not shared with any other Geely cousins. The main highlight here is the new 14.6-inch infotainment touchscreen (Proton says is the biggest in the segment) which comes standard across the range, and will support Apple CarPlay and Android Auto via both wired and wireless connections.
The screen itself comes in at a full HD (1920×1080) resolution, and is powered by a quad-core processor with 6GB of RAM, running on an Android 10-based operating system. There are no mentions of “Flyme Auto” in any part of the software, as seen on the Proton eMAS 7, although it’s clear that it has taken heavy styling inspirations from it. The 8.88-inch instrument cluster, meanwhile, displays various driving information, as well as advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) and fuel consumption data.

With the centre console now redesigned to house the twin phone holders, with the flagship gaining an additional wireless charging pad on the driver’s side, the gear lever has now been moved into a stalk behind the steering wheel, while the (single-zone) air-con controls are adopted into the screen itself. Fortunately, a row of buttons still remain beneath for mission-critical functions, namely the air-con on-off switch, automatic climate control switch, front defroster, and the hazard lights switch.
You’ll find four USB ports in total inside the new 2025 Proton X50, comprising one USB-A and one USB-C port under the centre console (in the new 10-litre storage area), and another pair of identical ports for the rear passengers behind the centre armrest. There’s also a new door handle design, which hopefully will help reduce the amount of complaints we see online on broken plastic pieces.

The 72-colour “rhythmic” ambient lighting system that shines through the patterned trims on the dashboard and the small cubby on the door pull (rear doors included!) is standard from the Premium variant and up, alongside six-way powered driver seats. But the Flagship variant does get a handful of extra goodies, including the panoramic sunroof, dual-tone upholstery, as well as a unique semi-transparent visor for the front passengers.
Safety kit is also a big upgrade for the all-new 2025 Proton X50. Advanced driver assistance features, including autonomous emergency braking and SAE Level 2 semi-autonomous driving, are now available on the Premium and higher variants (previously Flagship only).
However, a new Rear Side Radar System, utilising an 80-metre millimetre wave radar, is now available on all variants, bringing features such as Lane Change Assist (blind spot monitoring), Rear Collision Warning, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, and Door Opening Warning to even the entry-level Executive variant.
Premium and higher variants get a 360-degree surround view monitor as standard, which also includes an 180-degree underbody view, while the Flagship gains an upgraded Auto Parking Assist feature that now allows for autonomous parking in spaces without drawn lines.

As revealed yesterday, the all-new 2025 Proton X50 is now powered by a new 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine across the board, promising 181 hp and 290 Nm of outputs – 4 hp and 35 Nm higher than the previous direct-injection mill of the flagship, and a notable 31 hp and 64 Nm jump over the port-injected three-pot found on the lesser variants of the outgoing variants.
With an unchanged seven-speed dual-clutch transmission sending power to the front wheels, Proton says the all-new X50 can get to 100 km/h from a standstill 0.3 seconds quicker, at 7.6 seconds. That is also paired to a claimed 4.7% improvement in terms of fuel efficiency.
The all-new Proton X50 will be available in five exterior colours, including Snow White, Passion Red, Jet Grey, Armour Silver, and the new Teal Bayou Green, which we’ve photographed here.
