This is the Bovensiepen Zagato, built by the very same family that founded Alpina, the company renowned for their uniquely modified BMW models.
Now that Alpina has been acquired by BMW, the Bovensiepen family of industrialists has launched a new car company bearing their namesake. This, the Bovensiepen Zagato, is their first model – and in case you didn’t notice based on the heavily redesigned exterior, it is indeed based on a BMW M4.
According to Bovensiepen, the exterior highlights of the Zagato include a CNC-milled front grille, a resculpted front hood with a large U-shaped air duct, and a “Double Bubble” roof.
These elements certainly give the Bovensiepen Zagato a retro-futuristic appearance. However, we can’t help but notice the overall front design looks as if BMW and Audi somehow morphed together. Perhaps it’s the sculpted lines on the front grille combined with the sleek headlights that lend the Bovensiepen Zagato a distinct Audi vibe.

Towards the rear, the Zagato retains the taillights of its donor car and a quad-exhaust setup. However, a key difference is that the Bovensiepen Zagato sports a different rear bumper design with a larger rear diffuser than that on the BMW M4.
Inside the cabin, we hope you like blue, because the Bovensiepen Zagato’s interior is absolutely awash in it. It’s actually easier to list the parts that aren’t blue: the centre console, the dashboard, and the seatbelts, all of which are finished in black.
Under the bonnet of the coach-built Bovensiepen Zagato lies a 3.0-litre twin-turbocharged straight-six engine producing 611 hp and 700 Nm of torque. This enables the Zagato to complete the century sprint in just 3.3 seconds and continue on to a top speed exceeding 300 km/h.
Other special mechanical bits include specially developed Bilstein dampers, which Bovensiepen claims provide a “Fine Driving Experience.” This is coupled with three drive modes – Comfort, Sport, and Sport Plus – designed to deliver what Bovensiepen calls a true “Gran Turismo Feel.”
Want one? Bovensiepen hasn’t disclosed the price of the Zagato, but don’t expect it to be cheap. The new coachbuilder even stated that production will be “strictly limited” and will offer extensive personalisation options.
