In case you are unaware, the bi-annual Shanghai Auto Show 2025 will be happening from 23 April – 2 May 2025 at the National Exhibition and Convention Centre (NECC), Shanghai, China.
Carmakers will undoubtedly be using this stage to debut or launch their newest models. If you happen to be in Shanghai, these are five cars you’ll definitely want to check out.
Lexus ES
The current Lexus ES debuted seven years ago in 2018, and the Japanese automaker is gearing up to unveil the next-generation Lexus ES at the Shanghai Auto Show 2025.
Lexus has dropped some teasers about its upcoming luxury sedan, calling it a “global flagship model” that will showcase the brand’s “advanced electrification technologies.”
A charging port flap spotted on the front fender in the teaser strongly suggests the new Lexus ES could be offered with plug-in hybrid (PHEV) or fully electric (EV) powertrains.

Yangwang U8L
Yangwang, BYD’s high-end luxury EV division, will be unveiling its brand new electric SUV, which they’re calling the Yangwang U8L.
The Yangwang U8L is essentially a longer version of the already massive Yangwang U8. Sources indicate that the U8L will likely keep the same powertrain as the U8, featuring a quad-electric motor setup producing a colossal 1,196 hp (880 kW) and 1,280 Nm of torque.
Despite its sheer size, expect the Yangwang U8L to be capable of tank turns, and maybe even float on water, just like its smaller sibling, the Yangwang U8, has been known to do.
AUDI E5 Sportback
AUDI, spelled in all caps, is a new China exclusive sub-brand of Audi and it will be unveiling its first production model, dubbed the AUDI E5 Sportback.
Unlike your typical Audi models with the Four Rings emblem, the cars from AUDI will be sporting a logo of four capital letters: AUDI.
The AUDI E5 Sportback is likely to be based from the AUDI E Concept, which boasts a dual-electric motor powertrain generating 680 hp (500 kW) and 800 Nm of torque, enabling a 0-100 km/h acceleration time of just 3.6 seconds.

Mercedes-Benz CLA
The all-new Mercedes-Benz CLA was unveiled recently by the German luxury carmaker and it sports a front grilled that is decked with 145 Mercedes-Benz logos.
Bigger than the previous generation CLA in every dimension, the new Mercedes-Benz CLA will be available with EV and mild-hybrid (MHEV) powertrains.
Inside, the all-new Mercedes-Benz CLA boasts the latest iteration of the MBUX Superscreen where the driver gets a 10.25-inch digital gauge cluster, a 14-inch central display, and another 14-inch one right in front of the passenger seat, the latter of which is optional.
Zeekr 9X
The Zeekr 9X, an upcoming model from Zeekr, is reported to offer both fully electric (EV) and plug-in hybrid (PHEV) powertrains.
Visually, the Zeekr 9X bears a resemblance to the Rolls-Royce Cullinan, featuring a prominent vertical front grille and split daytime running lights (DRLs).
The PHEV variant of the Zeekr 9X will introduce Zeekr’s Super Hybrid technology which is targeted to have a total driving range of approximately 2,390 km on a full charge and a full tank of petrol.
